Pakistans Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar made a rare public comment in which he said that India has never accepted to let a third party help solve problems between the two countries.
This goes totally against what former US President Donald Trump said when he said that India urged him to help settle the Kashmir dispute.
Dar said that when Pakistan brought up Trump’s statement with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. America made it clear that New Delhi has always held its position: all issues with Pakistan are entirely bilateral.
Dar said that Pakistan does not mind negotiations with other countries but India has always said no to them. Instead, India wants all talks to be between India and Pakistan only.
Pakistan is likewise open to this but it wants the talks to include all issues, including as terrorism and trade the economy and the Kashmir issue.
He also said that Washington had earlier sent a ceasefire plan in May that called for peace negotiations to be held in a neutral place. However, during a follow up meeting in Washington on July 25, Dar was told that India had never agreed to it.
“India says it is a problem between two countries” We do not want favors we just want to talk. We are a peaceful country and feel that talking is the way to go, but it takes two to tango. Dar said He also said that Pakistan is still willing to negotiate if India does.
